Gateways for Large Systems
Keep your local branches connected at all times with our gateway and intelligent branch solutions
Branches are groups of users, frequently with important interdependent functions, often dedicated to providing the local sales and service interfaces to customers. They are your local presence for customers and clearly need communications which are just as good as in headquarters, perhaps better.
Moreover they must still operate if they become disconnected from HQ (for example because of WAN failures). They cannot close their doors to their customers and therefore they need at least basic call-control functions, preferably more sophisticated functions normally provided by the HQ operations. They also need connections via a gateway to the PSTN (or equivalent) to enable outside communications.
In addition your branches may also have requirements for older analog devices, such as fax machines, elevator phones and door-phones. And on the network side they must include security and call admission-control, and support Voice, UC, and possibly Video too.
Gateways for OpenScape Voice
To help your branches stay connected we offer both gateway and intelligent branch solutions.
Gateways provide essential communications for your branch and data center, interconnecting the IP world to the traditional PSTN world. They are supported by several other key functions including firewalls, call admission control, SIP proxy, analog adapters and other functions. Our gateways also provide signaling interworking and survivability functions (in case of WAN failure).
We provides a wide range of gateways for small, medium, large and very large Branch and data-center applications. These include Survivable Media Gateways for up to 2,000 users and non-survivable media gateways for smaller branches of eight to 100 users. Other combinations are also available to provide survivability for smaller branch sizes by using OpenScape Branch.
In addition to these options existing HiPath 3000 and HiPath 4000 systems can be used as gateways in OpenScape Voice networks. This has the advantage of investment protection and enabling a smooth migration from older systems to OpenScape Voice based communications.

OpenScape Branch
Enjoy resilient connectivity at your remote offices with our intelligent branch solutions
Your remote offices and branches need to have access to communications at all time. To this end we have developed a range of software-based solutions for both service providers and cost-conscious enterprises with multiple branch offices.
Whether you are an enterprise with a simple or sophisticated network, or a cloud-based service provider, we have an intelligent branch solution that can meet your needs. OpenScape Branch runs on commercially available servers and contains a wealth of features including:
SIP Proxy
Survivability features (local call control)
SBC (Session Border Controller)
Firewalls
Media server
One of the many advantages of OpenScape Branch is that it provides SIP trunking directly from the branch. This removes the need to transport all voice traffic destined for the PSTN back to the data center and provides network redundancy.
Another major advantage is the built-in Media Server, which dramatically reduces the bandwidth requirements to the branch, saving networking costs every month, and providing local tones, announcements and conferencing facilities even in the event of WAN failure.
We have developed OpenScape Branch systems for up to 50, 250, 1,000 or 6,000 users and provide the ability to cluster them for scalability and local redundancy. There are two main configurations of OpenScape Branch available, either in-network (for use in your own trusted IP network) or out-of-network (for use over an open IP connection, for example in cloud, service provider, franchises and for the Internet and non-trusted WAN networks).
Key functionality
- Local survivability features (local call-control)
- Includes SIP firewalls
- Call admission control (ensures adequate bandwidth for high-quality voice)
- Includes media server for local tones, announcements and conferencing, to save WAN bandwidth
- Provides local backup for WAN failure
- Switches back to primary proxy to allow for continued survivability
- Provides secure SIP trunks directly from the Branch, which is essential for Large Branches (with dozens to thousands of users)
- Handles unified communications (UC), voice and video
- Includes optional redundancy
- Supports external Gateways to PSTN, if required

Enterasys NMS Automated Security Manager
Security Incident Automated Response Management
Enterasys NMS Automated Security Manager (also known as NetSight® Automated Security Manager) is a unique threat response solution that translates security intelligence into security enforcement. It interoperates with the Enterasys Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and third-party network security appliances to automate responses to security incidents, remediating threats in real-time. It ensures that corporate data is protected, secure, and available.
Enterasys NMS Automated Security Manager executes policy-based rules, and when triggered, maps IP addresses to ports and takes assigned actions. The range of possible response actions is broad and configurable, including quarantining the user, disabling the switch port, or rate-limiting the traffic flow. Taking the action does not disrupt other users.
Combined with Enterasys NMS Policy Manager and IPS, Enterasys NMS Automated Security Manager provides sophisticated identification and management of threats and vulnerabilities. For example, when notified by the IPS, Enterasys NMS Automated Security Manager can determine the exact source location of a threat, determine a response based on the security policy, and trigger the configured action on the network switch.
