Early adopters accept and adopt new technologies three to five years before others.

Together with the benefits that UC is bringing there are the risk of failure of its adoption.

To utilize the benefits of UC, people must accept it and processes should be aligned as well. There are the researchers that stand even, that people and processes are much more critical and more risky of UC technology itself. Risk wise, early adopters are the biggest risk takers, while frugal customers are not willing to take risk.

It should be clear that there is not "wrong" belong to any of these groups.

Having in mind products and technologies life cycle, the customers that successfully adopt UC can reach competitive advantage related to those that did not decide to deploy UC. But if they fail to introduce it, or if they do not use it, the investment will not show expected rate of return.

Therefore you should be aware of own capabilities and chose weather to deploy with own resources or to purchase the services from service provider.
